I've been thinking about this. I posted a query/poll recently and I think while I won't sell my Alfa (unless I get an unbelievable offer), I would consider a trade for something easier to deal with and that I could occasionally autocross.

Look, I love this car. I've put several years and thousands of dollars into it. But with two little kids and a job and a life, it takes me a month to find the time to change the fuel filter. As I was driving home from car & coffee Sunday afternoon, I became incredibly anxious. If something mechanical were to go wrong, something serious, it would be laid up potentially for years.

Like I said, I don't really want to sell it. And I also don't know what I'd like in its place. The obvious answer is Miata, isn't it? A clean, unmolested Integra GS-R (I doubt ITR is possible as a straight up trade)? I dunno. Suggestions?

This car is mechanically sound (weirdly so). No leaks. No rattles. Maybe needs a va;ve adjustment. New(ish) driveshaft with new guibos. Spare transaxle. Front suspension totally rebuilt with new poly bushings, ball joints and tie rods. Later Recaro mesh head seats. I'd say in terms of show car rating, maybe a 5/10. In terms of every other GTV6 on the road, probably a solid 8 just based on the fact it has no structural rust, is relatively original, and runs well.

I'd estimate $8,000 based on the current market. And maybe I'll keep it. This car's value has been slowly but steadily increasing recently. Thanks, Top Gear!

That MIGHT not meet my easy to maintain criteria. Ha! Although it meets the interesting criteria in spades...

It is a fantastically overly complicated hulk of a motor!

I've got a Caprice 9c1 or a 240d. Probably the least maintenance heavy cars in existence but also not an even trade.

Yeah, I'm thinking small, light, auto-x candidates. The Caprice is weirdly compelling though!

Doesn't really meet any of those criteria I suppose. ......sigh.......

Caprice does have anti-stab seats. Just saying.

Ill trade you a (almost finished) 1G DSM with a fresh 6 bolt and many supporting mods...

That's a possibility... I don't know a whole lot about that chassis, other than I got spanked HARD by a 2G turbo in the Region 3 round robin season closer in my Integra GSR. And all the Honda guys made fun of crankwalk.

6 bolt was the stronger engine (2nd gen had 7 bolt which was crank walk central). Anyone you see running faster than a 12 in the quarter is probably running a 6 bolt or has lots of money to blow on rebuilding. Really cheap and easy to mod. AWD grips like a mofo, and there are a few (heavily modified) 6 bolts running E85 and pushing over 1000 hp.

Send me some specs. My plan is to consider options, then do a video of the car. Document everything I've done, what still needs to be done, the car driving, etc. I don't have a ton of time right now, and I'm not in a huge hurry because I'd like to see what all turns up with this proposal (also working through some of the local car groups). Anyway, post here or email to mike.mckinnon at gmail.com

Where are you located? I'm in Austin, TX.

I'm in Vegas.

The car currently does not run because its unfinished (probably a deal breaker but shouldn't take too much time to finish). I bought it when I had lots of free time, then I stopped having free time so the car has been waiting to be unfinished.

1990 Mitsu Eclipse GSX (6 bolt 4G63 AWD 5MT) with factory oil cooler (1990 only option). Engine is 100% oem, Head gasket was redone, all clearances checked. Factory turbo rebuilt and balanced, hot side housing replaced due to cracks in the cast. Side mount IC replaced with front mount. 550cc injectors (not installed). Poly engine mounts (all 4).

As it sits the engine is in and ready to go. The intercooler is mocked but not fully mounted. There is also a break in the wires for the injectors, rather common due to heat soak, just needs some minor rewiring / solder. Once the IC is fully mounted and installed, add oil, fix the wires and set the ignition timing, you should be all set to go. I have not installed the 550's because the car will need a tune or a piggyback system, and I figured it would be smarter to get it running first before upping the boost / fuel. I do have some spare parts that would come with it including boost and air / fuel gauge (no wide band sensor though), the 550cc injectors, and a 3" GM MAF for conversion (works wonders on these cars).
